Canada Consumer Debt Help
Canadians and debt - It’s been buy now, pay later:
According to an article published on:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/personalfinance/debt.html ,
“Personal bankruptcies are near record highs. In 2003, for the first time ever, the average Canadian household owed more than its annual take-home pay. We carry 74 million credit cards – three for every Canadian over the age of 18. Credit counselling agencies say they’re busier than ever. Students are often graduating with accumulated debt of $25,000 or more. Consumer debt levels are rising much faster than incomes and have been for years. Savings rates are at record lows.”
The writer asks “Are we truly facing a debt crisis, or can we handle it?”
We hear from so many people: get debt help, get debt relief, get out of debt, debt problem, debt freedom, reducing debt, help with debt, credit card debt help, eliminate debt, credit card debt relief, how to reduce debt, get rid of debt, no more debt, be debt free, pay off debts, and on it goes.
There’s no question that there are many with what seem like overwhelming debt problems. But getting out of debt is possible. Yes, it takes some hard decisions and a firm commitment to change the patterns of the past, but it can be done, and the rewards are well worth the effort.
We believe that debt crisis or not, we will handle it, we have always handled it. The path of civilization is ever upward over time. That does not mean that everyone will be magically made financially whole, but it does mean that society has evolved to the point that in Canada at least, even if you have no money, it is highly unlikely that you will starve. In fact, even in bankruptcy, you are allowed to keep certain items and assets. Most people’s debt help requirements are nowhere close to bankruptcy, and for most, a much healthier financial future awaits.
Anyway, the article mentioned above is a great article, and a good read if you’ve got about half an hour (It’s in sections).
There is light at the end of the tunnel. The first step is to confront the problem, and begin to put the pieces together.
As soon as you decide,
and actually start gathering all of your bills,
and statements and financial records into meaningful information,
the sooner you can look at exactly what you owe,
exactly what you spend,
and exactly what you earn,
the sooner you can decide on the best course of action going forward.
You’ll most likely find the Canada consumer debt help that you need if you do.
- to your financial good health.
James.
